Places to visit in Singapore: Swissotel Merchant court.

After moving from Lima-Peru to Singapore, the Swissotel Merchant Court Hotel was my home for 2 weeks.

I arrived with my family for the first time in Asia, to a new country, which I’ve never visited before, to stay for the coming two years. It was exciting but at the same time a little bit scary.

Swissotel Merchant Court is a resort style hotel in the area of Clarke Quay, Singapore.

It has been recently renovated and from the moment you enter you can feel its calm ambiance, it is decorated with natural elements such as wood, its minimalist atmosphere has colorful touches surrounded by unique pieces of art.

At the check in we were greeted with a glass of fresh lemonade and then we were guided to the room in which we would stay for the next 15 days.

Our room:

We had a beautiful and colorful room, it  had a pool view, modern bathroom, a table-desk, very comfortable beds and pillows made us feel at home.

The breakfast:

The buffet breakfast is served at the Ellenborough Market Café, the variety of dishes is incredible, whether it’s Asian or European food there is something for every taste. I am a coffee lover and here coffee is served in an individual pot at your table, that’s why freshly made coffee is guaranteed.

The location:

It has a great location, it is within a short walk from Clarke Quay metro station. Chinatown can be visited on foot (a few blocks away) or taking the subway (get off at Chinatown Station).

In front of the hotel there is a shopping center and in the basement, there are plenty of fast food restaurants especially Asian but there is also a vegetarian restaurant called Real food which I recommend. It is nice to go for a walk along the river, Clarke Quay is known for having a bohemian atmosphere at night as there are bars with live music, restaurants and street performers.

Before staying at this hotel, I spent one night at the Swissôtel The Stamford, Singapore. From my point of view, it is a big hotel more suitable for business and people coming for work. That’s why I switched to the Swissotel Merchant Court; for its family atmosphere, its elegance and that something that made me feel like in a holiday resort, children love this hotel, they have especial children decorated rooms with games which you can book in advance.
