I first tested the Singapore sling during my trip to Singapore from Amsterdam with Singapore Airlines. The cocktail tasted sweet and delicious. Research argues that the Singapore Sling came into the market around the year 1910. The Raffles hotel invented the cocktail during the British colonization era. During that time, British men came into the hotel with their ladies, but the ladies were limited to drinking alcohol in public. As a result, Ngiam Tong Boom who worked at Raffles hotel established the cocktail. Its’ red grenadine color and fruit appearance convinced ladies to take it.
Preparing the Singapore Sling follows a particular recipe. The following recipe highlights ingredients and the recipe for the Singapore Sling.
1 ½ oz Gin
¼ oz Cointreau
½ oz cherry brandy
1/3 oz grenadine
4 oz of pineapple juice
½ oz lime juice
A dash of Angostura bitters

Shake the ingredients in a shaker
Serve the Sling in glass and color it with cherry and pineapple.
